Relics & Reform Now!

Kendall Bruns Performs, Collaborates, Documents Results.

Cincinnati, OH - January 24, 2003 - Artist, Kendall Bruns will be taking over the top two floors at The Historic Southgate House, 24 East. 3rd St. Newport, KY, on Saturday, February 8th. In the third floor gallery hešll be presenting, Relics from his previous art performances and installations. Downstairs in the second floor parlour hešll be celebrating the release of Reform Now!, a new cd of Kendall Bruns music remixed by a diverse group of local and national musicians.

Relics is a collection that documents various performances and installations that Kendall has created over the last few years. His Bigfoot installation at the Civic Garden Center of Greater Cincinnati in 2001 and his Spelling Bee at SSNOVA last September, are two examples of the kind of work that will be referenced in this show. The Southgate Gallery will display objects and documentation from these works. CD recordings of his A Mild and Crazy Guy performances will be available for the first time.

Kendall says, ŗThese performances and installations have been limited by the audiences they could reach. This is a great opportunity for me to introduce these works to a new audience and give them more context by showing them as a group.˛

While the gallery will present an overview of Kendallšs recent performances, the parlour will play host to the release of his Reform Now! cd. Kendallšs been making music as a solo artist for eight years and decided it would be a good time to collaborate. He enlisted local musicians such as enduser, David Enright, Sonik and Kenya DuBois as well as national artists like Shapethrower and Dark Audio Project to deconstruct, rearrange and rebuild his songs into something new. The results will be available on cd at the show and many of the contributing musicians will be performing to celebrate the occasion.

The opening reception will begin at 7pm and the music starts at 9pm. Both events are free. Relics will be on display through February 28th.
