Where do you find Spiderman, a Mobius Strip, Mt. Rushmore and an Atom Bomb?

Artist Kendall Bruns unveils new works at the Warsaw Project Space

Cincinnati, OH – October 20, 2001 – Inspired by a journey to explore the western United States, Kendall Bruns, an artist in Cincinnati, Ohio, is opening his latest collection of art works at the Warsaw Project Space, 3116 Warsaw Avenue, on Friday, November 2 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. The show will be open through November 24th; gallery hours are Saturdays from 12:00 – 2:00 PM and by appointment.

Kendall Bruns’ latest works form an eclectic collection of observations, ruminations and interpretations derived from a month-long driving adventure taking him from the Badlands, to the commercialism of Los Angeles, to the glitter of Las Vegas. The travel-inspired works are a dynamic group of original music, sculpture, paintings and installations.

The most controversial piece of the show, entitled Perseverance, juxtaposes an image of an Atomic Bomb explosion and a sculpture of Mt. Rushmore. While especially poignant in these times of national unease amongst threats of terrorist attacks, the piece reflects upon the feats of achievement and permanent nature of these significant accomplishments in American history.

Two additional pieces feature maps and American geography through the personal perspective of the artist’s experience. These pieces illustrate the relative interpretation of fixed distances and locations through a singular point of view.

The works presented at the Warsaw gallery span numerous medium and materials. Sculptures, installations, audio recordings and two-dimensional pieces are all represented. Materials include commercial items, tape, paper, digital images, painted images, and more. Copies of Kendall’s original CD entitled “RT2K” will be available for purchase.

Additional work by Kendall Bruns will be shown at the Unit 2 group artists show opening on Saturday November 3rd. For information regarding the Unit 2 opening, please contact Kendall Bruns at kendall@kendallbruns.com or 513-922-5033.
