OLD NEWS
12.15.04
I've posted 3 songs from my 1999 Christmas cd for download on the mp3 page. You can find another at MySpace.
12.14.04
For the last month Jane and I have been practicing and writing – we're trying some different arrangements on a few of the songs. Last weekend Jane (Best Pedestrian) played at the Mockbee (while balancing a cake on her head) and I got to join her for a song - "Rodentia Revue". Our next And How performance will be this Saturday, December 18, at our friend Jamie's birthday/Christmas party. Hopefully we'll have some dates in the new year to announce soon. In the meantime we're working on recording and writing a few more new songs.
11.17.04
Show went great last night despite lots of talking through everyone's sets – thanks to all who came.
11.15.04
On Saturday night Jane and I played a set for some friends to try out the songs in front of people. Everyone clapped nicely. Don't forget about the show at Crush tomorrow night!
11.12.04
And How will be making our debut public performance on Tuesday, November 16th opening for Kimya Dawson (of the Moldy Peaches) at Crush. Should be fun. Tonight I have a piece in a show at the Mockbee. The show is called Versus and was put together by the Art Directors Club of Cincinnati. I was paired up with another deisgner, Julie Carson, and we traded back and forth on a design together. I haven't seen the finished piece but it might be interesting. Details on the shows page.
11.09.04
At And How practice last night Jane and I worked on some different vocal arrangements for the clock song... we have eight songs almost completed now.
11.08.04
Last week Josh Flowers and I went over some ideas for a short film we're going to make together. It's Tentatively titled, "Love Me, Don't Sit on Me". Today I typed up our notes to create a rough first draft and sent it off to get his feedback.
11.06.04
Today Jane and I (And How!) practiced at my house with mics & full amplification to get a better idea of how things are going to sound live. We went through our whole set and worked extensively on "Story About the Ocean" and "Rodentia Revue". We also spent sime time jamming on Pachelbel's "Cannon in D" & Neil Diamond's "Love on the Rocks".
10.30.04
Today we finished filming my scenes for the "One From None" short film. Editing will begin soon.
10.28.04
More time spent today editing I invented it! footage. I have 11 full shows on tape as well as some snippets from tour, etc so trimming it down to a manageable amount has become quite a chore.
10.25.04
I've been busy with a few projects lately... we're putting together a DVD for Cicada: The Musical and I've edited together some supplemental material for it – including outtakes from the Bruns & Son Funeral Home Commercials. I'm also sorting through I invented it! video footage for an eventual DVD and trying to clear space on my hard drive so I can really dive into editing The Haircut footage. In between all this video editing I'm also filming a small part in a local short film, "One From None", and practicing practicing practicing with my new band, And How! – it's a project I'm working on with Jane Carver who some people might know as Best Pedestrian. We've been practicing since the beginning of August, writing all new material together, recording demos and hope to play some shows in the near future...
09.27.04
I updated the images page with a new invitation I designed for the next Contemporary Arts Center show as well as a poster I designed for an upcoming show at the Southgate House featuring Q and Not U, El Guapo & Voyageur.
09.10.04
The Josh Flowers Show was great! It will repeat on Staurday night at midnight and Tuesday at 7p.m. for the next two weeks in Kentucky on Insight Cable channel 21 and will eventually show in Cincinnati and Dayton as well – I'll post it when I find out.
09.03.04
On Tuesday, September 7, I'll be the guest on The Josh Flowers Show on Insight Cable channel 21 at 7:00p.m. Should be interesting.
09.02.04
My Mario Tube sculpture has been found and returned to me. It's damaged and was obviously intentionally disturbed but at least it's no longer missing.
08.25.04
Saturday at the opening of Awesome!!! at The Mockbee someone stole my contribution to the show, a sculpture. Mario Tube is made of PVC, wood and felt. It's 4-1/4 inches tall. If anyone knows where it is or what happened to it I'd like to know. There are some photos below – they're not great but they'll have to do.
I moved all The Haircut pictures to the images page. I'm going to try to post all the entries eventually...
08.13.04
The Haircut is now posted. Please come to the Awesome!!! show this Saturday at The Mockbee. I have a new piece!
08.13.04
The Haircut winning entry has been posted – it was a very close vote and the judges passionately debated prior to casting their ballots. Corinne Dean designed the winning entry. Thanks everyone for entering – I'll be posting a picture of myself with The Haircut soon.
08.09.04
The Haircut top two finalists have been posted. After these two were selected the judges discussed their views and each was allowed one vote for their favorite. Check back to see how they voted. Also, I'm in a group show at The Mockbee (formerly SSNOVA) on Saturday, August 21 – details in the shows page.
08.05.04

OK – the final ten are now posted! The final two and the winner will be revealed in the coming days – check for updates.
08.04.04

There's an interview in the August issue of Cincinnati Magazine about The Haircut. There's a scan of the article on the images page. I've also added a new video, Bruns and Sons Funeral Home, to the site. I made these three commercials for Cicada:The Musical and they also were shown this past weekend at The Lite Brite Indie Pop And Film Test at the Southgate House.
07.20.04
I'm going to San Diego for a couple days – when I get back it's Haircut judging time.
07.13.04
There's one week left to get in your Haircut entries – don't delay!!! If anyone would be interested in being interviewed on videotape about this project to tell me about your entry, interesting haircut stories or how brilliant or pathetic you think I am please let me know and we'll set up a time. Also, today there's an article mentioning The Haircut in CityBeat – Look Here!: Art, Artists, Etc.

Check it out tomorrow night – I'll have something new plus some Haircut entry forms for those who don't want to bother printing their own. Also, I'll be performing with The New Cicada Brass Band in the Northside 4th of July Parade on... the 5th.
06.30.04
In the past week I've been interviewed by The Cincinnati Enquirer, Cincinnati Magazine & CityBeat – be on the lookout and keep those Haircut entries coming in!
06.27.04
Thanks to the crowd of over 700 people who were at the 80's Pop...Rocks! benefit – definitely the biggest crowd I've played in front of – and extra thanks to Super77 for letting me share the stage with them.
06.24.04
Cincinnati CityBeat and Cincinnati Enquirer articles about the 80's Pop...Rocks! benefit show on Saturday have been added to the press page. You can also find The Haircut Press Release there.
06.23.04
I've started a new project called The Haircut. It's an unscripted artwork where I'll be letting people submit ideas for my next haircut. You can download an entry form in pdf format here.
06.16.04
I've got two shows coming up... first there's the 80's Pop...Rocks! benefit show at The Historic Southgate House on Sat, June 26. I'll be performing Moog with Super77. 06.15.04
I invented it! is on Myspace.com. You can hear a song there...

Steve Ramos gives his take on seeing Cicada:The Musical in the new issue of CityBeat - link in press. Remember to tune in to CBS News Sunday Morning.
06.07.04
Cicada:The Musical played to over-sold crowds both nights - good. I hope people enjoyed it. We should be featured on CBS News Sunday Morning next week so tune in. There was also a camera crew from the BBC but I have no idea what they plan on doing with the footage. In other news, I've updated the I invented it! page with some images from our final show (courtesy Matt Mooney) and other assorted tidbits.
06.02.04
Cicada:The Musical is merely days away, more press is kicking in AND we've been told a camera crew from CBS News Sunday Morning will be visiting us for our dress rehearsal and opening night... if you don't have tickets yet it's time to start scrambling as I think we've almost sold out both nights...
05.27.04
I recently designed the invitation for the new Contemporary Arts Center exhibition. It's a Paul Kos show and you can see the invite in the images section.
05.24.04
My good friends, Super77, had their cd release this past Saturday and upon receiving my copy of the cd I found out that Matt (singer) used one of my photos in the cd booklet - check out the images section to see. I think this was taken at Never On Sundays when I invented it! played a show with them.
05.21.04
I designed some postcards to help promote Cicada:The Musical. You can see an example in the images section. I also added an image of the new banner I made for Fizzgig a while back.
05.18.04
Today I added images from the Appropriately Enough show. Revised Note is Kurt Cobain's suicide note re-written with a happier ending and Slutsongs:Screw Music is a series of 25 cds of screw music, the style popularized by Houston's DJ Screw. Other random images added as well.
05.17.04
There are three new songs available for download on the mp3 page. These are all three songs that have been around for while - particiularly "17" - but these are brand-new-just-finished recordings. I'm working on lots of other new songs right now so hopefully I'll have more to share soon. Also, Cicada:The Musical is starting to get press - there are links on the press page to articles from CIN Weekly, The Cincinnati Enquirer and Wired.

On a totally unrelated note - check out the new issue of CIN Weekly - there's an article with my Honey-Milk Treats recipe and a short interview.

It's a new year and new stuff is happening and I'll tell you all about it...
but not right now - I'm busy.
12.26.03
Once again, Andrew Loughnane mentions me in Artspike
Magazine - twice in the Dec 17th issue! First, in "Come,
My Friends, 'Tis Not Too Late" he mentions the Relics show
as setting a nice precedent for Southgate House gallery openings being accompanied
by relavent musical performances in the Parlour and then in "Top
Ten Local Art Moments in 2003" he has at #3, "Kendall Bruns’
haughty Relics show getting vandalized at the Southgate House Gallery...twice!"
12.05.03
In the Nov 20th issue of Artspike
Magazine, Andrew Loughnane namechecks me while discussing Keith Benjamin's
current show at the Linda
Schwartz Gallery. He calls me a "designer/musician/relict" ...whatever
that means. Anyway, check out Keith's show - it ends Dec 19th.
11.11.03
There are some cool I invented it! shows
coming up including one tonight at Shirley's with Kites.

10.30.03
I added a few new images today
including posters for the SSION show on Sunday (also featuring I
invented it!) and Freezepop Nov 9th. I strongly encourage people to come
to both of these shows.
10.27.03
The October 22 issue of Artspike features an article
about the Art Academy of Cincinnati's Mad Hatter Ball. There's a tiny blurb
about I invented it! having technical
difficulties and you can see my arm in one of the pictures... exciting stuff.
10.13.03
I recently designed a poster for a show at the Southgate House on October 17th. Performing will be Ozma, Fizzgig, The Natural History, Schatzi & The Oranges Band. Check out the poster and flyer on the images page.

The new issue of Cincinnati Citybeat has me listed as one of Cincinnati's "Next Influentials". They ranked me in at #17 out of their 25. You can see for yourself at http://www.citybeat.com/2003-08-27/cover3.shtml. 08.13.03
The show last night was memorable - I broke two strings by the time we started the third song. I had a nervous breakdown but eventually continued and it was a mess but, you know - it was messy with CONVICTION.

Hello everyone. Therapy sessions went well - thanks to everyone who participated. I'll try to post some pictures and documentation in the near future. I'm currently working on a new body of work and also am busy with my still unnamed band. As soon as we have some shows scheduled they'll be posted here.
05.28.03
I've heard from a few people who think the performance I'm doing this weekend makes light of mental illness. That's not my intention and I will be taking precautions with anyone who participates to make sure they understand this.
05.23.03
I've added my press release for Kendall Bruns, Artist/Therapist to the press page. I am currently scheduling therapy sessions for May 29-31 at SSNOVA. 05.13.03
Well, I'm back from the Artboat and it was a pretty good time. There were some placement issues and for a while they were trying to use our sculpture as a traffic blocker but other than that... sold a bunch of I Love Water buttons as well as some of the cds that Autumn and I made of improvised duck music. While in Chicago I also visited my friend Josh who writes and publishes the new GI Joe comic through his company, Devil's Due.
05.08.03
So way back a long time ago it seems like I was an extra in a film called Three Barbecues and that little film is having it's premiere this Saturday, May 10th at the Madison Theatre. If I wasn't going to be on a boat that's where I'd be...
05.07.03
I added the press release for Artboat2003 and the Trained Monkey Press review of my A Mild And Crazy Guy cd to the press page.
04.28.03
Today I recorded some demos with my new yet-to-be-named band. Looks like we'll be having our first shows in July...
04.25.03
I'm featured in the May issue of Cincinnati Magazine (in my mailbox yesterday and on newsstands soon). There's loads of other stuff in the issue as well including an article about the soon to be opened Lois & Richard Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art which I recently finished designing the Grand Opening Invitations for.
04.22.03
I've made many updates to the images section of the site with more to come - I've been sort of neglecting it for a while but now I'm cleaning up and adding a bunch of things that have fallen through the cracks. I'm also starting to add context to some of the images that might have confused people in the past...
04.20.03
Someone told me that an issue of Trained Monkey Press had a review of my Reform Now! cd. If anyone knows how I could get a copy let me know...
04.18.03
Today I added a new mp3. It's from my The Beatles cd. You can still check out the entire piece at Semantics on Saturdays from 12-4pm or by appointment until the end of the month. Check the shows page if you need more info.

04.07.03
It’s my birthday. The openings this Saturday both went well. You can see the show at Semantics through the rest of April on Saturdays, 12-4pm or by appointment.
04.02.03
I’m in two group exhibitions this Saturday. At Semantics I'm included in a show titled, Evidence divided by ephemera is greater to or equal than experience: A show about process. The piece I'm presenting is a cd of The Beatles’ entire full length lp output from 1963-1970 that has been compressed in duration without being modified in pitch or edited so that it can fit on a single cd and experienced in one sitting. It includes 169 songs from 11 different albums and you can hear it all in about 72 minutes. These are numbered in an edition of 25. Other artists included in the show are: Russell Ihrig, Andrea Wohl, Kim Humphries, Debbie Brod, Sarah Colby, Andy Marko, John Ennis, Dave Rohs, Krista Gregory, the surds, Andrew Loughnane, Kevin Poole, Andrea Sparks, Steve Zieverink, Fred Ellenberger, Susannah Rosenthal and gregory/murphy. It's being organized by Julia Ranz.
The other show is a few doors down at a space run by Rachel Rampleman. Her show is titled, Work In Progress. My contribution here will be an ongoing project that involves credit card companies and financial security. Other artists include: Terry Berlier, Jay Bolotin, Fred Ellenberger, Krista Gregory, Marcus Knupp, Tony Luensman, Kevin McCarthy, Tim McMichael, Rachel Rampleman and music by Chalk at around 10-10:30pm.
There's gonna be a lot of stuff so come check it out + there's an opening at SSNOVA across the street. Check the shows page for more specific info about times and addresses.
03.11.03
I’m going to be in a few group shows coming up in the next few months - I’ve updated the shows page with info. One of these shows is Artboat2003 in Chicago. The show will be aboard the Anita Dee II, a 140-foot 3-level yacht docked at Navy Pier during ArtChicago. There will be work by artists from thirty young galleries, collectives, project spaces and artists from Chicago and various cities throughout the Midwest and elsewhere. I'll be doing a collaborative piece with Autumn Schrader.
03.04.03
I received an email from someone named Martin McRoberts today... I'm not really a snob...
02.26.03
Another nice Citybeat mention here.
02.21.03
The 4th Red Square Film And Video Show is this weekend, Feb 22nd & 23rd. Starts at 2pm both days at the Cincinnati Art Museum. Free show. Same program both days. Very exciting. I helped organize the show. Please come.
02.17.03
Southgate House Gallery Director, Andrew Loughnane, has put together a nice webpage with info about my current exhibition and prices.
02.14.03
Last night between 11pm and 2am someone(?!) vandalized some of the artwork in the Southgate House Gallery. They messed up a few pieces but things are ok overall and the show goes on. Also, and probably unrelated, someone left a question which I will now answer...
Q: Will there ever come a day when strangers walking down a street will spontaneously sing and dance in unison? Ode to the Musical
A: The Indonesians are amazing. The differences between Western and Eastern culture are sometimes huge, sometimes tiny: I challenge anyone to define the Asian mentality, as much as I challenge anyone to define the Western mentality. One thing's for sure: apart from a few bad eggs, Indonesians are a good people, always kind, considerate, interested and willing to chat. Yes, when the lonesome traveller is tired and wants some peace the overly-keen Asian instantly becomes a pain, but compared to Westerners, Indonesians are friendly beyond the call of duty.
02.13.03
The new issue of Cincinnati Citybeat mentions DISSENTCINNATI. You can read it online at http://www.citybeat.com/2003-02-12/musicspillit.shtml
02.11.03
I've contributed a track to a cd called DISSENTCINNATI.
02.10.03

Thanks to all who came to the opening and especially to all the bands who performed - it was a good night.
02.05.03
The new issue of Cincinnati Citybeat features an article about the Relics and Reform Now! shows at the Southgate House this Saturday. There's a link to it on the press page.
02.04.03

01.27.03

Soon I should have some posters that Quincy Robinson is screenprinting for me & Thom Romelli is hard at work on the cd artwork as we speak...
01.06.03

They come in a slightly weathered LP-look packaging and include a "Best Fishes" photo. I'm only making 50 of these. They're numbered and signed. They'll be available for $5 each at the February 8th Southgate show.

I'll have more details on all this and more soon...

I saw Mallory play at Top Cat's last night as well as Readymaid and a band from UK called Bunny. Mallory keep getting better and better I think. I'm really looking forward to their cd coming out next month... I found out that Top Cat's is closing Dec 1st... sad. Tonight I'm checking out the Liars and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at the Southgate House + I think Spencer has a DroneDisco show happening in the Parlour...
10.25.02
Halloween party. I am Richie Tenenbaum.
10.18.02
Electroclash was super-cool. Tracy and the Plastics, W.I.T., Chicks on Speed & Peaches + in between sets by Larry Tee didn't disappoint. Maybe they'll visit Cincinnati next year?
10.16.02
My brother's party went off without a hitch and everyone seemed to enjoy the music. Tonight I'm off to Columbus to see the Electroclash festival at the Wexner Center. I was just there on Sunday to see Clinic and really enjoyed their stage on the stage setup. Clinic was excellent - I highly recommend going out of your way to see them.
10.08.02
Time to catch up on some stuff... thanks to all who brought bags of sugar for the "Great Wall". My final count was 32 bags - many arrived during the opening. Pictures of the wall and the Spelling Bee are now up with more to come. The 151st Murderous Passion show went well - sparse attendance but the people who came were attentive. I saw Matt Sharp perform at the Buzz which was pretty exciting and caught Mitch Hedberg's perfomance at a comedy club in Dayton the other night. Very exciting. Looks like I'll be providing music under the name LLDJ at my brother's 21st birthday party this Saturday - if you wanna come, I'll email you the details upon request. Also, I should have new info soon regarding the remix project and a show I'll be doing in February.
09.29.02
I added bunches of bunches of pictures to the images section...
09.17.02
Tomorrow, September 18th, I will be performing live music as part of the 151st Murderous Passion: A Power Electronix tribute to Giorgio Moroder. Check out www.southgatehouse.com for info.

The "Great Wall of Sugar" received a significant boost at the opening on Wednesday. Thanks to those who contributed. My performance at SSNOVA afterwards was a spelling bee. I was the pronouncer, judge and also made the word list. There were 17 participants. The winner, Eric Puryear, won a trophy that I personally designed and built with a bee I commissioned local fly-tie expert, Thom Romelli, to make. You can read about the SSNOVA events on artspike.org. Pictures will be posted soon.
09.10.02
Tomorrow is the opening for the Proposed and Delivered show at the Chidlaw Gallery. It's not too late to bring bags of sugar for the Great Wall. The opening is from 6-8pm and will be followed by performances at SSNOVA from 9-11pm. At SSNOVA I will be holding a spelling bee. There will be signups at the opening for those interested in participating. Addresses and other info can be found in the shows section.

I'm back from London - had a great time... construction of the "Great Wall of Sugar" has begun. I need more sugar! Bring your five pound bags to the Chidlaw Gallery to be part of this project.
08.15.02
I'm leaving for London today.
08.14.02
I will be constructing a wall from bags of sugar in the Chidlaw Gallery at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. I'm asking for people to donate bags of sugar to be used in the construction. By donating bags of sugar you will help determine the size and scope of this "Great Wall". You can bring bags of sugar (5 lb granulated sugar in paper bags) to the Chidlaw Gallery, (located in the Art Academy's Eden Park building) 951 Eden Park Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45202, starting today and put them in a box I have set up. I will begin construction of the wall on August 22nd - the first day of the show - and will continue building until September 15th. Details of the exhibition are in the shows section. I need as many bags of sugar as possible to build my "Great Wall" so don't be shy - bring me your sugar! The building hours are 9am-9pm Mon-Thurs, 9am-5pm Fri, 12-5pm Sat & Sun. Thanks and I'll keep people updated on the wall's progress as it develops.

I recently made some transit card art which will be appearing in Cincinnati Metro buses until late Summer of this year. You can see images of the cards in the images section... or just take a bus ride. There will be an opening reception at the Westin Hotel on April 26th where a Metro bus will become a "moving gallery", transporting gallery-goers to and from the Main Street Entertainment District, the Pendleton Arts Center and the Atrium.
04.13.02
I updated the camchive and images sections today.
04.02.02

I did a major overhaul of the images section - rearranged everything according to year and added a bunch of new stuff.
03.29.02
Cincinnati CityBeat's 2002 Best of Cincinnati issue came out yesterday and they picked me as...
"Hardest Working Artist in Cincinnati (Generation Next): Art Academy of Cincinnati alum Kendall Bruns mans creative exhibitions with clever performance pieces and composes avant-garde music, despite the fact that he also works to pay the bills. Isn't coffee wonderful?"
hmmm... I don't drink coffee... you can see the article at http://www.bestofcincinnati.com/outstaff.html.

03.13.02
Today I finished an ad for the Kailip cd release party that's going to run in next week's CityBeat. I'm also currently working on logos for Fizzgig and buttons for Autoshape. All that and I still found time to add some more stuff to the recording history page...
03.12.02
I finished adding details about the RT2K recordings to the recording history page.
03.11.02
I just received a copy of the new cd by a local band called Kailip. I did some layout on the cd artwork and also some promotional cards and posters for them. Their cd release party is March 22nd at the York Street Cafe.

I'm putting the finishing touches on artwork for the Mild And Crazy Guy cd. The audio is all finished and I'm hoping to have these printed soon...
02.27.02
I added a bunch of new stuff to the recording history page. There are still big holes and I'm having trouble because I can't find some of my master tapes(!).
02.23.02
I've been keeping busy working on a few projects... I'm separating tracks of old songs for a remix cd I'm putting together. I've got some pretty cool people lined up and ready to contribute as soon as I give them the source material. While going through old tapes I found a bunch of really old demos and stuff and I've decided to put together a recording history page. This will list everything I've recorded so far and how many copies I've made, etc. This is a work in progress.
I'm designing catalogs for my solo Warsaw show and the Unit 2 group show from November. The Warsaw catalogs will probably be in limited quantities but should be very cool. The Unit 2 catalogs will be mass produced and hopefully available in the Spring.
A couple days ago I made buttons with Alex the button Girl to help benefit The Void. The Void is an all ages punk venue in Northside. It was recently shut down due to some problems with their air conditioning/ventilation. You can read about it here. Alex and I will be selling buttons at shows and record stores to help raise a little money and show support. I f you want one and can't find us, just send me an email.
There's tons of other stuff happening, so stay tuned...

Busy weekend. I went to Atlanta (or as I like to call it, HOTlanta... but I'll get to that later) to see Philip Glass perform Koyaanisqatsi on Saturday at the Fox Theatre. The score was performed live while the movie was also shown. "Koyaanisqatsi, Reggio's debut as a film director and producer, is the first film of the QATSI trilogy. The title is a Hopi Indian word meaning "life out of balance." Created between 1975 and 1982, the film is an apocalyptic vision of the collision of two different worlds -- urban life and technology versus the environment. The musical score was composed by Philip Glass." This was very cool. Anyway, I went to Atlanta with two specific goals in mind. My first goal was to go without packing anything. I just got up and went to work on Friday like it was a normal day, then left from work to go to Atlanta. No luggage. No packing. This worked out ok for me - I bought a toothbrush while I was there. My second goal was to find a shirt that said "HOTlanta". This shirt would also preferably feature a peach and the word HOT would be in flames. This did not happen. There was an amazing absence of "HOTlanta" merchandise in Atlanta. In fact, the only thing I found was one t-shirt that was so god-awful ugly that I had to pass on it (it featured puffy paint). I broadened my search to include postcards, keychains, snoglobes, anything that said "HOTlanta". I came home empty handed.
01.24.02

Kendall's correspondence with Vincent Gallo...
Kendall:
"Do you feel that your artwork(all the stuff you make - whatever you wanna
call it) is reaching the appropriate audience? Do you feel like by doing all
the various types of projects you undertake makes you less successful at any
one thing? How do you gauge your own success? I realize these are complicated
questions. Any response would be greatly appreciated. thanks."
Vincent Gallo: "sorry kendall to tuff to answer."
...at least it was a swift response... I saw Modest Mouse tonight...

It looked pretty interesting from my end. We'll all be able to find out when the film is done in six months or so... Also this weekend, the Vivid 'zine came out. It features a text piece I made called "Everything I Highlighted When I Read The Promise of SLEEP". I also contributed an interview with Oil Can Boyd.

07.22.01
"The 1970s, a period of fragmentation and soul-searching, produced exhilerating, fertile, laissez-faire growth in the arts. Though few neat, packaged trends emerged, many forms and ideas flourished. "Pluralism" was the catchword used to described these heterogeneous tendencies, which opened up a host of new possibilities, among them the idea of a dominant style or even of an artist adhering to a single style might be a thing of the past." - Lisa Phillips, The American Century: Art & Culture 1950-2000, Whitney Museum of American Art.

In AfterMichaelMandiberg.com news, there's a teacher at the University of Denver who referenced my site as part of a homework assignment for his Fundamentals of Design class. You can read their essays at http://www.du.edu/~marnoldm/2325/forum.html. On a related note, AfterKendallBruns.com now links to a pic of Cal Kowal, one of my old instructors from the Art Academy...

I'd like to clear something up... yes, the html code you see on this site is there intentionally. I know how to get rid of it. I put it there as a kind of inside/outside, behind the scenes, looks cool sorta thing. If this bothers you, feel free to let me know.

Many changes to the site today... I've created a press section that includes links to articles and reviews, I added a few new images and now the archived webcam pics have their own page. Also new is the store. You can buy stuff. Right now I can accept credit cards through PayPal. I'm currently taking orders for the new cd, RT2K. Only $8 postage paid!

AfterMichaelMandiberg.com update. I've been in contact with Michael Mandiberg. His first message just said, "Well done." and then he sent me a copy of a more formal response. You can read it at www.kendallbruns.com/mandiberg.html.
The person who bought www.AfterKendallBruns.com is listed as being Yann Serandour in Rennes, France. The domain just links to the page you're on now.
If you visit www.scream.ca you can see another site similar to the one I created.
05.24.01
I've created a site called www.AfterMichaelMandiberg.com.

I uploaded the site on 05.23.01.
www.AfterKendallBruns.com was registered by someone in France within hours of my purchasing the Mandiberg domain. This was before I even posted the site!

I've added a new video. It's called ASAP and stars Marc Umlauf.

I went camping in Red River Gorge this weekend and will post some new Holga pics soon.
05.12.01
Today I finished recording vocals except for one last track on my new album. The last song also needs guitar and then I'll just need to mix down about half the songs. It's looking like 14 tracks and about 45 minutes long.

Well, I've finished writing songs for my new album and now I'll be starting the recording process. I have preliminary recordings for a couple of the tracks but for the most part I'm starting from scratch. I'm excited about this. I'm going to try to keep my webcam on most of the time when I'm recording.
04.22.01
I've added some drawings and a couple more webcam pics to the images section. It's a beautiful day.
04.15.01
I've added a new video. It's called Writing Lesson and it is fascinating.
I've also added many, many images, including a section of past webcam images.

I strongly encourage everyone to visit Bigfoot at the Civic Garden Center. He'll be there until April 29th. The Center is open from 9am-dusk seven days a week! You can find it at 2715 Reading Rd - right across from the White Castle. E-mail kendallbruns@bigfoot.com if you need directions. Thanks to everyone who showed up at the opening.

I will be contributing a piece to the outdoor sculpture show that's held at the Civic Garden Center every other year. The opening of the show will be on April 6th. I found an article from October that talks about the Red Square Video Show and briefly mentions my Magic Trick video. It can be found at www.cincyring.com. On a related note, the Magic Trick video should soon be available in streaming format at the soon-to-be-launched website for the next Red Square Video Show. I'll keep you posted. Anyone who missed the 99 Cents or Less opening has another chance! I'll be watching the gallery on Saturday, March 17th from 12-2pm. Please visit.
03.02.01
In my junior year at the Art Academy of Cincinnati I provided my voice-over talents for a friend's thesis project. It's a short animation called "Space Monster X" and can be viewed on his website, www.stuffco.net.
02.17.01
OK. What's going on? I'm going to have a sculpture featured in an art show coming up here real soon. The theme of the show is that all of the work must cost less than 99 cents to create. The opening will be on Friday, March 2nd at the Warsaw Project Space. If anyone has questions feel free to e-mail me. I will also probably be participating in a show at the Civic Garden Center in May.

In September I did some traveling and sent some special postcards to about thirty people. If you are one of those people, I'd like to get the special postcard back for a little while so that I can document them. When I'm finished you'll get them back. I promise.

This is MAXIMUM ROCK N ROLL's review of the split 7" with Eleventh Symphony.
"What's this supposed to be? ELEVENTH SYMPHONY are about 80% pretension and 20% inspiration. "Ooh, we're so avant garde. You have no idea how we feel and can't possibly try to understand what we're trying to accomplish. We're deep.Did you hear me? DEEP!" Now I'm all for improvisation and the shock of the new and blah, blah, blah. But not when it's used to cover up the fact that there was never really a clue in the first place. I mean, shit, isn't one generation of emo fucking horrible enough? KENDALL BRUNS smoked some pot and fussed around with the four track and keyboards that his parents bought him for Christmas and decided in his intoxicated state that it was worthy of being commited to vinyl. Now that I've listened to this entire record, I'm really hoping that it's all a big joke." - Lance Hahn
Hmmm... I don't smoke pot.
10.24.00
The Fight is now available in Real Video format in the video section.
10.18.00
I found this review at www.listen.com.
"Cincinnati Singer-Songwriter Kendall Bruns creates whimsical electronic Indie Rock, and gentle, melodic Punk-Pop. His songs have a charming tunefulness to them, whether they are entirely electronic or feature a band." -Tom Heyman

I'm working on a comedy album. It's going to be limited to a paltry 50 copies, so reserve yours today!
10.06.00
I'm currently mixing down some tracks I recorded with the Eleventh Symphony in August. Look for an mp3 or two in the near future.
